As someone who has struggled with excess weight for their entire life, I didn't expect much from this book. After all, I've read them all - done all the diets - joined all the programs.

But I was surprised by it. It provides some very thoughtful, realistic points to consider, delivered with a sense of humor that made me laugh out loud a few times. The author is not a psychologist or doctor, but a real person who has come face to face with his own pain and despair, and used that to turn his life into something positive. He has conquered his own demons, and obviously has a desire to share some of the things he learned in that struggle to try and help others.

The points he makes are well worth considering, and the exercises worth trying. At the very least, nothing will change, and nothing will happen; nothing he talks about could be bad for you. But if done with consistency, the things he talks about could impact your mind and your life in an extremely positive way - not only with weight loss, but in how you think and feel about yourself as a person. Many of us have been brought up with too much self-hatred, and haven't been taught how to love and care for ourselves. This book is a good start to that process.
This book is unlike any other I have read before. The author uses humor, metaphors and most importantly, his own personal experiences, to relate to the reader to help get his point across.
The book is unique because it teaches that a strong mental foundation is the key to happiness, and happiness is the key to being successful in whatever your goals are. Deleon goes beyond offering a strict diet or weight loss plan; he points out that a big key in changing your life, your habits, your routine, is to become happy with yourself.
As someone who has struggled both with my weight, and self-esteem, this book opened my eyes to the fact that we are all mentally capable of changing our minds, bodies and lives for the better.
The message that stood out to me the most is the simple idea that “you deserve to be happy”, and the only way you can achieve that is to grant yourself the permission to be happy.
I would recommend this book because the concepts are simple and easy to understand, but presented in a way that makes the reader question why they hadn’t tried to make changes before. It is a simple concept, but one that has encouraged me to positive changes in my life.
Incredible book. Since I had my baby a year ago I've struggled with losing the excess weight (about 30 lbs). Most my issues are due to an inner dialogue we all have with ourselves. "It's been a rough day I deserve this....pint of ice cream". I know I'm not the only one who has thought this. "I'll start eating healthy and workingout on Monday". We are full of excuses. I was able to get an early copy of this book (little over a week ago) and, while I haven't begun workingout yet, I can tell you that I have begun implementing some of the suggestions in this book. I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 5 lbs! The mind is an incredibly strong tool! I love this book.
You probably searched this book when looking for "weight loss" or some other book on how to get into shape. This book is more than just about weight loss; it's about positivity gain with the effect of getting in physical and mental shape. With all this said, it is a must read!

As Megan May eludes to in her forward, you will learn various approaches from the author about how to form your mental capacity to attain your goals, with the main goal being about his journey to weight loss and personal euphoria. While some exercises are seemingly eccentric (such as looking at yourself in the mirror and speaking to yourself), they are actually quite powerful. You ever watch a movie where the protagonist is facing on of his/her biggest challenges and is nervous or scared (like in 8 Mile)? In that movie, Eminem looks at himself in the mirror and tells himself he can do it, giving him permission and motivation to succeed. If you've seen the movie, you know how the next scene goes as the entire crowd is bouncing during his part of the rap battle. Facing your fears starts with facing yourself and then beautifying your inner talents and drive to succeed. There are various other exercises that Jonathan provides in this book. I've tried some of them and trust me, they work!

Jonathan provides an introspective into his own experiences to help paint the picture for your own successes. We all want to be the captain of our life's ship, able to steer our way across vast and unknown territories with ease, unhindered by the storms and troubled seas. What Jonathan teaches you is that yes, you can because you drive your own ship and control your own destiny. By accepting whatever situation you are in and having the confidence in yourself to push through, you can succeed. But you must take ownership of who you are, what thoughts or fears you have, and how you act on them to become who you really want to be.

Jonathan takes the reader along a journey to determine how you can strengthen your foundation, ensuring the roots are firmly in your mind so you can have the confidence to accomplish your goals to lose weight. He helps you develop your own "formula" that will direct you on each daily success to gain your desired results, giving you a compass to begin your road to change. He also helps you to build the proper mindset to ensure that you remain steadfast while achieving your goals, while taking the time to love yourself and show compassion for who you are and what you are trying to achieve.

Jonathan is honest about how to do so, even raw about the messages he conveys. It's written almost like if you were conversing with the author, helping us to have that inner dialogue to transform yourself. While an easy read with no ground-breaking theories, it has a hugely impactful truths that some of us may or may not have fully realized. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to not only lose weight and stay that way, but also for those looking to achieve any goal they themselves have deemed impossible. So as Jonathan says, do what others consider ridiculous. Give this book (and its exercises) a try. You may discover more about yourself and your abilities to succeed than you ever thought possible, either in weight loss or other ventures in your life.
